Toyota’s Woes Come to Denver

February 26th, 2010 No comments

Brought to you by the Denver car accident lawyers at the William Muhr law firm Everyone is well aware of the recent, increasingly widespread recalls of Toyota vehicles over the past months. Many people have ranted about how quickly and thoroughly the auto maker seems to have responded to the issues with the acceleration in a number of its vehicles. However, in light of the latest developments and most recent recalls of additional vehicles for brakes problems. Etc. The question arises, how much has Toyota known and for how long? A Lakewood man, Ryan Scharrell, has decided to file a lawsuit against Toyota for the inconveniences he has suffered due to the recall for acceleration issues. Scharell and his legal team allege that Toyota has known for several years about the issues with its vehicles. The lawsuit charges that the auto maker has been withholding information regarding the safety of its vehicles. Also lawyers claim that he, along with many other customers, would not have chosen to purchase a Toyota vehicle, had they been provided all of the facts regarding the safety of these vehicles. In a statement, Scharrell’s legal team said, “The problem is that, even for people who have not experienced an unexpected acceleration, they now own a car that they likely wouldn’t have bought or, at least, wouldn’t have paid as much for had they known about this dangerous, life threatening defect.” This lawsuit is only one of many that will unfold as a result of the widespread recalls.

I recently wrote an article on FedSmith.com concerning the legal process of filing for Federal Disability Retirement benefits under FERS or CSRS, and a reader posted a comment implying and suggesting a lack of understanding about a benefit which would allow for payment of 40% of the average of one’s highest three consecutive years, and in addition, to allow for that annuitant to make up to 80% of what the former federal position currently pays.

Do I Need a Lawyer If I know I Am Innocent?

January 11th, 2010 No comments

It is not uncommon for people who are certain of their innocence of all charges levied against them to assume they can offer an explanation that will free them from all charges. With the understanding that the accused is innocent until proven guilty, individuals may believe that their innocence guarantees that proof of their guilt cannot be found. In fact, law-abiding citizens who do not take advantage of their Miranda right to a criminal lawyer in NJ are likely to face unpleasant results. The following are just a few reasons why anyone charged with even minor crimes should seek advice and support from a NJ criminal lawyer: Saying the wrong thing during questioning: The reason everyone has the right to criminal lawyers in NJ is that it is very easy to mis-speak during questioning. Even the simplest wrong statement can build evidence against you. Experienced NJ criminal lawyers remain at your side during all questioning to advise you. Illegal questions or activities during questioning: An NJ criminal defense attorney remains watchful of all questioning to ensure that your legal rights are protected, you are treated fairly, and all questions asked are legal. Handling the legal process: You may be released after questioning, or you may need help further into the process. Your best chance of being freed as a result of your innocence is with the help of an attorney. But, if the process continues in spite of your innocence, a criminal defense lawyer in NJ will be with you during arraignment in court, through to the end of the process. The criminal process is complicated, and anyone who is charged with a crime may find the process especially confusing. Experienced criminal defense attorneys in NJ know the unique aspects of the local criminal process that can make a big difference in how successfully your case is resolved.
